Rapid prototyping at H T Brigham adds value for customers
The benefits of 3D printing have been widely reported; fast, low-cost and kind to the environment. This rapid prototyping allows working concepts to be ruled in or out more quickly, speeding up the development process and reducing the project lead time as a whole.
Birmingham metal pressing manufacturer, H T Brigham celebrates 70 years in business this year. The company was established in 1947 by Hugh Terrence Brigham who, with just £80 start-up capital, operated a single hand-press from a garage shed in Birmingham, delivering components locally using his motorcycle and sidecar. He was paid £9 9s 8d on the completion of his first order.
Over the last 70 years, H T Brigham has become an expert in its field, providing not just pressed metal components, but offering a level of expertise which can really benefit customers by solving design issues, reducing costs and improving product functionality. Now a prominent name in the metal stamping industry, H T Brigham is renowned for the supply of high quality, bespoke presswork solutions, utilised by a variety of demanding industry sectors across the globe.
A continual determination to grow and evolve has been key to the company’s enduring success. The persistence and entrepreneurial spirit of Hugh Brigham, and later his wife Margret who joined him to help grow the business, was integral to the success of the early years and is etched in the company ethos to this day.
‘We are so proud to have reached this important marker in our history. From humble beginnings, we have always strived to improve and push forward. The Brighams grew the company quickly, with several re-locations to larger premises and the purchase of more sophisticated equipment to accommodate the growing workload. This is something which we continue to do today, by embracing the latest techniques and technologies, in order to take the company forward. The dedication and skill base of our whole team really sets us apart and helps us to continue to diversify and expand in a challenging industry,’ said Barry Smith, Managing Director.
To mark this important milestone the company has launched a brand new website, which can be used as a useful information re-source, not just about the company, but about all things ‘presswork’. Learn more about which metals would be the most suitable for the application of your product, what constitutes a deep drawn pressing and how stagger blanking can save you money on your bottom line.
